IWA 7th Grade Student Wins Scripps Regional Spelling Bee

Congratulations to IWA seventh grade student, Advait, on winning the Scripps Regional Spelling Bee on March 11! He competed against 15 participants in several rounds before going ten rounds with a student from Menlo Park Academy to win the bee.

Advait has been practicing for the Regional Bee since October and won our school spelling competition on January 23 which qualified him for the Regional Spelling Bee.

Second Grade Teachers, Mrs. Cheryl Kaminski DelBane and Mrs. Rolle, are our spelling club moderators. Mrs. DelBane describes Advait as “a very driven and disciplined student. He knew every word on our practice list that contains 4,000 words. We wish him all the best at the National Bee!”

Up next, Advait will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., taking place May 30 – June 1.

Best of luck, Advait!
