Mission Statement

The purpose of this Association shall be to promote the best interests of Incarnate Word Academy and to foster a spirit of loyalty and fraternity among graduates and former students of Incarnate Word Academy.
In addition, the purpose shall include assisting the IWA Development Director and the Principal of Incarnate Word Academy in any manner possible.

The IWA Story

Incarnate Word Academy has had some very important changes since you graduated.  The most significant change for the continued success of IWA took place in 2003 when the Sisters of the Incarnate Word and Blessed Sacrament made the wise decision to have the Academy incorporated as a separate entity. this meant that the Sister could guide the Administration, the Faculty and the Board of Trustees to guarantee the continuation of the IWA quality and tradition which is the essence of the Mission of the Sisters who have taught the Academy students since 1935.

The most exciting IWA event in 2006 was the August dedication of the IWA Learning Garden.  This was a project that came to fruition due to the efforts of several dedicated parents on the IWA Grant Writing Committee.  This Garden is a visual treasure that is used by the classes for many lessons.  This Garden has much to offer in every season.   Please visit www.iwalearninggarden.com for more information

The year of 2006 also saw the “retirement” of Sr. Eileen Fitzgerald SIW from the position of IWA Principal.  Sr. Eileen moved over to a newly formed position of IWA Development Director.  Sister immediately took on the task of updating the database of IWA graduates.  The next main goals of Sr. Eileen were to start a viable Alumni Association and increase the amount in the IWA Endowment Fund.  As the cost of a good Catholic education increases, the IWA Endowment Fund is needed for more and more families.
