We may use your memories and photos in a 75th Anniversary IWA Commemorative Magazine that will be distributed at the Gala Event on October 9. The IWA Experience: Past, Present, Future

On September 11, 1935, Incarnate Word Academy opened its doors to 33 pupils. Since that time, the number of children to have walked the halls of IWA is over 4,000, as we celebrate 75 years of educating children to “learn, love and serve.”  Throughout the 2010-2011 school year, we invite you to take part in special opportunities to celebrate this milestone.  Watch this space for details in the coming months, and be sure to share your IWA experience!

How We are Celebrating
We are marking the occasion of IWA’s 75th Anniversary with a full year’s worth of events, including an Opening Mass to kick off this 75th academic year on August 22, 2010, and a 75th Anniversary Gala on October 9, 2010 (Click here to request a Gala Invitation). We are also kicking off a campaign to build up the IWA Endowment Fund, which was created in 2002 to provide financial assistance to students in need and support faculty enrichment.  


An Investment in the Future
All of the proceeds raised during IWA’s 75th Anniversary Campaign and Gala will help us reach our goal of building the Incarnate Word Academy Endowment Fund to $1 million.  We want to ensure that no child is turned away from Incarnate Word Academy because of financial need, and your investment allows us to to maintain a diverse student body and remain accessible to all.  The current endowment is approximately $415,000.  In the past ten years, the tuition at Incarnate Word Academy has increased 58%, yet the financial need has far surpassed the tuition increases, increasing 275%.  Your generous gift will put an IWA education within reach for many children each year.  Make a Donation Today or learn about sponsorship, advertising and donation opportunities at the 75th Anniversary Gala.

Did You Know...
• Today’s Incarnate Word Academy draws students from three counties, 26 cities and 62 parishes across Northeast Ohio. IWA’s student body reflects a rich diversity of faiths, cultural backgrounds and heritage that enhances the student experience.

IWA Student Awards

• In 2009, one hundred percent of graduating students were accepted at their first-choice high schools and were awarded approximately $70,000 in scholarships.

• Fourteen members of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word remain involved in day-to-day school operations, including school president, Sr. Rosemarie Burke.

• More than half of IWA faculty hold a master’s degree.
